“The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1
I love this verse! I especially like the line, “The Lord is the strength of my life.” What a powerful statement!
I’m striving more and more to live by that line. Too many times I try to do too many things in my own strength, and fail miserably.
It is a difficult thing to try to be an efficient, independent woman and a child of God at the same time. We feel pulled, wanting to show the world we are capable of handling it on our own! But, as a child of God, we need to place the cares of this world in His Hands – and leave them there – claw marks and all!
When we choose to rest in Him, He leads us through the chaos that is this world.
Don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying that He takes it all away – no! He’s a good Father, He knows that we would remain infants if He took away the hard stuff of life. Look again at the verse. “The Lord is the strength of my life.” If He just took it all away, we wouldn’t need His strength.
He gives us His strength to endure the hard times. If we allow Him, He’ll also give us the wisdom and compassion to help others with the lessons we’ve learned, the hard times He’s brought us through. (But that’s a talk for another time!
)
Strive with me today to completely lean on Him; to truly be able to say, “The Lord is the strength of my life.”
You’ll be glad you did!
